GREENERY

It's that time of year again! Pantone has just announced their color of 2017 which is called Greenery. It is nice to see some spring colored leafy green this time of year as everything up here in the north turns a cold gray. Brrr...

Wondering how to incorporate this green into your existing home decor for a fresh look? Check out this room photo below for some inspiration, it looks great mixed with rich blues and wood tones.

Artwork and some green ferns are always an easy update!

What do you think of the new color of 2017?

Cheers,

Green with Envy

Happy St. Patrick's Day all! Sorry it's been awhile since my last post - every week zooms by and I realize I haven't yet written a blog post! It's amazing how time flies now with a little one...

As I was drafting my monthly email newsletter I searched for a green room to share for some St. Patrick's Day love. It was hard to decide which one though - some were soft and subtle, others were vibrant and geometric, and others still were neutral with just a few pops of green. Since it was so hard to pick just one here I will share all the "green rooms" that grabbed my interest!

America Recycles Day

This Friday November 15th, is America Recycles Day so I thought it is a good time to talk about recycling and home decor!

Recycling can mean a few things when we talk about home decor. For one it could mean taking the item and physically breaking down the parts and reusing the raw materials to create a totally different object. One example of this is recycling plastic PET bottles into new carpeting! This fascinating video from HGTV shows how they actually break down the material and spin into carpet fibers.

Recycling home decor most definitely also means repurposing old items in new and fresh ways.  This is a sustainable and affordable option for home decor that reduces the amount of furniture that goes into the landfill. As a redecorator I was trained on the basis of "Use What You Have" and specialize in coming up with ways to repurpose your furniture!

If you have some old furniture laying around and aren't sure what to do with it, look no further than Pinterest!

Painted cane back chairs are a great makeover idea. Very simple to do and makes a HUGE impact.

And I've seen lots of variations on this idea below

Erin Go Bragh!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! When I hear this exclamation my first few thoughts are: shamrocks, parades, and beer (green optional!). When it comes to decorating though, there are many other ways to bring a bit of Ireland into your home. For me Ireland conjures up images of lush green pastures dotted with sheep, stone walls covered in lichen, and a hazy aqua mist.

The best thing about decorating personal spaces is that every person has their own interpretation of what something means to them. We always try to incorporate meaningful funiture and accessories into our redesign because that's what makes each space truly unique. Below are some rooms we found that could have been different interpretations of Ireland based on the pictures above. What does Ireland mean to you?
