ICFF 2014 Favorites

I enjoyed yet another year at ICFF (Interrnational Contemporary Furniture Fair) checking out all the new products & concepts! There is always so much to share after going to a show like this, and I have several follow up posts planned. I'd like to start with a few of my favorites though. I think I appreciate most of these for their unique take on a concept or just the whimsy of the idea. So here is product round up numero uno!

1- Jewel Encrusted Sinks

Aren't these all beauties?? You would almost never even know a sink was there. Like this shell one below.

The Mansion in Detail- part 2

I hope many of you are getting ready to enjoy a long weekend! I wanted to share part 2 of my Blairsden Mansion recap, again focusing on the details rather than the full room. If you missed "Part 1" check it out here!

Let's begin with fellow Interior Redecorator Susan Hayes! Congratulations!

Design for Kids

Oh summer, why do you always go too fast? I hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer before the weather cools and kids (both old and young) head back to school. I was originally thinking of posting about back to school, but instead I thought it would be more fun to post about design for kids!

Cool Kids

These first few are designs I saw at the ICFF this past spring. I really liked these storage units that create a Dutch city skyline. So adorable and colorful! These are a pretty generous size and can house clothes, books, or toys.

This is Dutch (or Kast van een Huis)

And then this adorable Bunny LED light / toy / decor for a kids room. So adorable and fun, it would make any scary monsters under the bed move out for good. Based off a children's book character created by Dutch artist Dick Bruna.

Miffy (or Nijntje)

And sometimes a rocking horse just needs an upgrade, just like this zany zebra pattern!

Zebra Roc

fatboy

The ultimate for kid & teenage lounging. They take the deflated and old-school bean bag chair to a new level. These fatboys come in contemporary colors, patterns, and even hold their tailored shape (instead of always being a round-ish blob).

Fatboy Junior (orange & silver)

How fun would a family room be with fatboys all over the floor, similar to this?

Bright Ideas from ICFF: Part 2 of 2

It's been a busy week wrapping up projects and "thinking" about packing for our vacation (although I haven't actually started packing yet :) We are excited for a little time off! Before I go I wanted to send out my second post about lighting from the ICFF. (first one here). There's some really great ideas, what do you think?! You can click on the titles of each section for links to learn more.

David D'Imperio Lighting

Very eye catching designs with lots of pattern and geometry. My hands down favorite was the entire linear suspension line. So unique and beautiful. Technical and fluid at the same time, all around a great design.

Crystalmeth faceted design

Ozone

I also liked this drum pendant design

Diadema

Serip Organic Lighting

Portugal based lighting designs, organic here meaning looking natural (not made with "organic" materials) with it's branch-like tentacles grabbing onto glass droplets. Together this creates a very sculptural & unique lighting fixture.

Aqua

Nenufar

Bespoke Global

Well with a name like and a website full of interesting and unique projects it sounds like they can make anything custom. Here are two of my favorite lighting designs they had.

Tubular Light

Virus Lights

Bright Ideas from ICFF: Part 1 of 2

Where is the time going?!? I can't believe tomorrow will be August already! I have spent the past few weeks organizing the last bit of ICFF information I collected and so I'm ready to send out my last few product round ups! I wanted to send lighting next since I've been thinking about a few design projects that involve lighting. It's always great to see what new stuff is out there! Here is the first post of two.

Apparatus

Vintage aged brass, etched glass, porcelain, one of a kind. I like the clustered look of the light below.

Cloud

The open and minimal look of this one.

Highwire

And the teardrop shaped bulbs on this one...

Triad with exclusive matte white bulbs and hand cast porcelain

Marset

Barcelona based design firm has come up with a line of outdoor lighting with innovative combinations of materials, like the Txl lamp below. I like that you can bring the inside "out" with these, they look like normal living room lamps.

Txl outdoor lighting

I like the combination of materials in this floating shade concept.

Mercer table lamp

And this lamp is designed to play with light and shadow with it's narrow slits.
