That's a Wrap!

Well, the holidays have come and gone and today is the eve of a New Year! I am excited to ring in the new year with friends later tonight and am looking forward to see what 2014 brings!

In an effort to wrap up some of my design finds from last year I wanted to share my last round up from the ICFF, and this one is all about paper! Maybe you've seen some beautifully wrapped gifts this past holiday, but this post will focus on your walls!

Some of you may still be removing wallpaper that you inherited from decades ago but the truth is that wallpaper is back in a big way! And why not when there are so many beautiful options that can add pattern, metallics, depth, or texture to your walls. It creates instant ambiance and impact. This isn't your grandmother's wallpaper.... :)

Calico Wallpaper

Beautiful marbled technique applied in a metallic paint, beautiful and organic. They have a process section on their website that shows a few photos of how they marble their papers.

Vahallan Papers

These are made in panels that are replaceable and repairable. Very interesting concept for wallpapers. It comes in many textures and patterns, and also offers a 'torn edge' style that creates a seam-free look.

Lobo Loup

Cute illustrations that would work great in any children's room. Playful designs are printed on sustainable paper with water based inks.

Wiener Dogs

Petta Thompson

How fun are these 3D wallpapers with pom poms and flowers

And here is a line of classy wallpaper. I received a folder with 6 8-1/2 x 11 samples of varying designs. Pretty nice little packet. The textures vary greatly between samples, here are a few I found most interesting. The first actually has a cork veneer that is painted over with the pattern. This creates an instant aged effect.

This second is embroidered wallpaper - with actual stitching. Not only does this add dimension but the thread really picks up the light and shimmers the pattern. There is a lot of silk elements in rug design and it's cool to see it translated into wallpaper. On right is another picture I took of my Avonmouth sample. You can see the loose thread and needle holes on the bottom right of this picture.

JUJU Papers

JUJU Papers, a small firm from Portland Oregon that hand print all their papers with water based inks and on sustainably harvested paper! I really appreciate the forward thinking use of environmentally friendly materials. Their designs in general are playful folk art. And I really like the story about their name, found here. JUJU is what makes a home special!

Indian Summer

Based in Brooklyn NY these soft water color designs make interesting art for your walls. They remind me a lot of a Rorschach test, and the preview of each design is just stunning.

The Knitting

Phillip Jeffries

They offer a wide selection of hand crafted textured papers including seagrass, hemp, Japanese papers, studs and stripes and realistic vinyls that are great to use in commercial spaces or high traffic residential.

Jill Malek

Collaboration with Sissy + Marley to create cute wallpapers fit for a nursery. I also really enjoy her large scale prints which have a seamless repeat.

Grow House Grow

These designs have cute little characters that are part of a narrative. Like these little monkeys at the beach and this elegant octopus design.

I hope you've enjoyed looking through some of these beautiful wallpaper collections! If you are looking to add some interest to an area in your home consider doing it with wallpaper!

I wish you all a very safe and happy new year! Welcome in 2014!
